Calling all Purchasing Professionals! Demco, Inc. is currently accepting applications for an Associate Buyer position within our Materials Management team. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the company’s purchasing and planning initiatives. Demco, Inc. is a direct marketer, selling a broad product offering of over 50,000 items including thousands of unique or hard-to-find supplies, furniture, and equipment to thousands of customers across the nation.
As an Associate Buyer with Demco, you will:
Assist in the management of supplier cost negotiations, lead time reviews and management, quality tracking and resolution, and day-to-day relationship building for pre-selected suppliers
Analyze planning requirements within MRP to procure product through placement of purchase orders and work orders, meeting specified goals under the direction of the Inventory & Demand Planning Manager
Maintain purchase orders with appropriate communication and tracking in addition to expediting delivery dates to meet customer expectations
Negotiate product returns and credits to effectively recover costs in a timely manner
Support initiatives to manage E & O inventory
Provide accurate product information for use in all phases of the operations and implement Product Change Notices when applicable
Build and maintain relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams
Identify and participate in Continuous Improvement projects
This salaried position is a starting position within our Materials Management department and has no direct reports. The position focuses more on the tactical aspects of the supply chain and supports those who focus on the strategic goals. Ideal candidates will possess an Associate degree or equivalent experience along with a minimum of 4 years purchasing experience in a high volume, fast-paced distribution organization. Qualified candidates must be results-oriented and demonstrate a strong customer focus along with the ability to multitask. Experience working with MRP functionality is also required.
